A Kansas highway patrol officer found a 6-year-old girl who had been kidnapped after stopping a vehicle for a traffic violation.

A Kansas Highway Patrol officer stopped a car driven by two men for a traffic violation and found a 6-year-old girl inside the car on Saturday (22).

The men appeared to be in their 60s, according to the police report. Upon checking their backgrounds, the officer discovered that the front passenger had an arrest warrant for the kidnapping of a 6-year-old girl.

The driver also had a lengthy criminal history, including gun violations and homicide.

The child was safely removed from the vehicle. When asked for her name and birth date, the girl gave a false name and incorrect date.

“This 6-year-old girl gave the officer a fake name and birth date after being instructed to do so, in an attempt to keep the adult out of jail,” said the Kansas Highway Patrol in a statement.

“Eventually, our officer was able to calm her down and got her to give her real name,” the report continued. It was later confirmed that the girl had been kidnapped from another state. Both men were arrested.

The case is still under investigation. After the Kansas Highway Patrol’s post, internet users were curious about the story’s development, but the police could not provide further information.
